A Week of Love

Our family had lots of Valentime's (sic :) this week! It all ended Friday when we took a trip down the 405 to one of my favorite places here--the Teahouse on Los Rios in San Juan Capistrano. When I was about 12, my grandma took me to a little teahouse in Orem that served "authentic Victorian teas." I just loved it--the antiques, the mismatched porcelain, the individual pots of delicious fruit teas--and always wanted to go back, alas, it closed. I'd never been to another place like it until Peter found the Los Rios Teahouse. Not only is the food delicious, but it's set up in a tiny ancient house surrounded by flowers in the historical district of San Juan Cap. I could go on and on, but what I love most of all is sitting outside surrounded by flowers (and members of the Red Hat society) in the sun, eating current scones and cream with my honey (who is good enough to be one of the only--and definitely the youngest--men there).

But, on Valentine's Day itself, Dangerboy woke up early, so we went and got donuts for Daddy at our favorite place. (And I gave Pete his present--a Betta fish named Lord Jim). Later DB and his daddy made me lovely Valentine's sugar cookies. That night I cooked dinner--rosemary chicken, caprese pasta and strawberry shortcake--while P. was at class, and when he got home we ate and I gave him the poem. He gave me a beautiful necklace, bought with his sacrificed Christmas money. Could I ask for a sweeter husband?

Cute stuff: DB is very into showing everyone his belly. He lifts up his shirt to expose his entire chest, says "beh-yee" and expects others to do the same. Usually the little ones do!
