Dangerboy returns!

Well, he's growing up! As he forcefully reminded a man in the park the other day who referred to him as a little boy: "NO! I a BIG boy!"

1. My favorite: the other night, a total meltdown. Instigated by a disagreement about the presentation of his chopped mangoes at dinnertime, exacerbated by hunger and fatigue. He cried in his room for a while; wet his pants; cried naked in the bathroom for a while (Pete and I just ate dinner since he refused to let us in). We heard muffled crying in the bedroom for a while and then he walked out in underpants he'd put on himself, backwards. Still crying. Put himself in his booster seat. Cried. Tearfully asked for some dinner, which he ate.

Ten or so minutes later, he was in such a good mood that he stood up on his booster seat, turned around , stuck his bum out at us, and proceeded to do a little dance while singing, "Shake your booty" (or "shake your bum bum", he unfortunately knows both). It was that much harder not to laugh because he was just wearing backward underpants, that little Y-seam on his little waggling butt.

What can I say? Life is rarely boring with a 2-year-old around.

2. The young philosopher: While on a walk the other evening, Dangerboy noticed that it was dark. Talking to himself, he observed, "The sun's come up. The sun's went down. That's good story!"

3. His favorite game for the past months has been "HIDE!" This consists of him (and usually one of us) hiding under a blanket. That's pretty much it. Sometimes there are rolled-up hoarded socks involved; these are referred to as "candy." And lots of giggling.

4. Dangerboy has resigned himself to the fact that Mommy's tummy baby is a girl. When we ask what to name her, he says either "Wendy" (after grandma and the Peter Pan Wendy), "Peter Pan," or "C-A-L-E."

5. He's adopting words lately for use as swear words and/or intensifiers. One week it was "stake," as in, "I push you down, stake!" The next week it was "bust." As in "This car crash, bust!"

6. One morning he was in an especially good mood. As I was getting him breakfast, he randomly remarked, "Jesus makes me happy!" (Unfortunately, I know he didn't get that from us....Nursery, maybe?)

7. He has been potty trained since December. Go Dangerboy!

8. P. gave him a haircut a few weeks ago. Here he is posing, wearing his Uncle Shaun's homemade high school t-shirt for pajamas (he loves it!). It's from Battle of the Sexes week, 1999 or so; the back says "Fear My Body." (You'd have to know my brother...) DB wanted me to take a picture of his bum, hence the pose.

How is that kids are so freaking funny? They aren't afraid to make up their own ideas and fun and just go out and do something!

I'm worried about this kid's obsession with his behind-- should I be worried??

I heart Dangerboy and I think G hearts him, too. I can't wait to see his new sidekick.
