Happy New Year

Well, it's a new year full of new resolutions. Among mine are, of course, eating better, exercising, and keeping up on this blog.

We had fun over the two weeks we were gone. Highlights included Dangerboy's first sled ride (he remained completely expressionless the whole time, but after a few times down the hill, said matter-of-factly, "More"--pronounced "mare"), and DB's first actual viewing of a movie in a theatre (scary previews during which I tried to cover his eyes, but he REALLY wanted to watch, then "Night at the Museum", which he was really good for and watched the whole thing, except when he threw his sippy cup and it hit hard the person's seat in front of us, narrowly missing her head). We stayed in Rexburg for a few days, eating prodigiously and shopping, then to Springville for time with Grandma and the crew (though soundly ditched by our Rexburg friends), then down to Mesa.

P. and I enjoyed a night out for our anniversary at Vito's Italian (former mob) eatery, followed by video games and the movie "The Illusionist", which we enjoyed, though I thought "The Prestige" was better made. We also went on a hike in Mesa to the Wind Tunnels in Usary Park with Mike and Bonnie, which was fun though they turned out to be not tunnels but hollows in a cliff made by wind. And for New Year's, ah yes, the fabled trip to the corner QT, for traditional midnight slurpees and celebration with the convienience store staff (no, that's exactly as it sounds--P. made up the tradition last year with his siblings while I was trying to get some baby-deprived sleep).

Which happened again this year. DB decided he WOULD NOT sleep in a pack n' play voluntarily, so he spent half of most nights with one of us while the other of us slept on the couch. One evening he regaled my entire extended family with loud crying for about an hour and a half while I tried to get him to sleep in the playpen. After that we just gave up.

So now we're back. Church today--DB succeeded in throwing a metal toy airplane two rows ahead in sacrament meeting--he's very into throwing these days. He was wild and hilarious all day and I am worn out! I'm going to clip my dang coupons, take a bubble bath with my yummy new Sakura bath bubbles, eat something unhealthy (it's the weekend, right? Do I hear peanut butter and chocolate chips calling?) and go to bed.
